Timeline for Curriculum Change Proposals

The basic principle is that curriculum changes that are entered into PeopleSoft should take place before before the start of Registration for the semester in which they will take effect.

The attached file gives a visual overview of the basic timeline for curriculum change proposals that require review and approval by the Curriculum Council or more.

So, changes of the scale that require a full proposal process should be developed well before the start of Registration for the semester in which they will take effect.

A general rule of thumb:

Winter Semester - work on proposals to take effect in Fall semester

Summer Semester - work on proposls to take effect in Winter semester

Fall Semester - work on proposals to take effect in Summer semester

Remember that as part of the proposal process there will need to be time for:

feedback and revisions

approval by the department, dean, possibly GE committee, curriculum council, deans' council, etc.

entering the approved curriculum changes into PeopleSoft, the online catalog, and the major requirement sheet, etc.

Thank you for your efforts to look ahead.  If you have any questions about what deadlines you should be working towards, please contact me at Jennifer.Lane@byuh.edu
